Course Overview

This course is a 5-day bootcamp course with a focus on teaching learners to install, operate, configure and verify basic IPv4 network, with a focus on the basics of Cisco IOS security features. The course covers the basics of CCNA level IOS as well as CCNP-Security level Cisco IOS-XE security features. This course is foundational for the network infrastructure engineer or manager to prepare their network for Identity Based Networking (Network Access Control) using the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).

Course Objectives

After taking this course, an individual should have the pre-requisite knowledge to complete the Comply-to-Connect course. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Describe the features and functions of the Cisco IOS Software
  • Describe LANs and the role of switches within LANs
  • Describe Ethernet as the network access layer of transmission control protocol and the internet protocol (TCP/IP) and describe the operation of switches
  • Install a switch and perform the initial configuration
  • Describe the TCP/IP internet layer, IPv4, its addressing scheme, and subnetting
  • Describe the TCP/IP transport layer and application layer
  • Explore the functions of routing
  • Implement basic configuration on a Cisco router
  • Describe information security concepts and strategies within the network
  • Describe security flaws in the transmission protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP) and how they can be used to attack networks and hosts
  • Deploy Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense basic configurations
  • Deploy Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense IPS, malware, and fire policies
  • Deploy Cisco Secure Email Gateway basic configurations
  • Deploy Cisco Secure Email Gateway policy configurations
  • Describe 802.1X and extensible authentication protocol (EAP) authentication
  • Configure devices for 802.1X operations
  • Describe Cisco secure remote access connectivity solutions
  • Deploy Cisco secure remote access connectivity solutions
  • Provide an overview of network infrastructure protection controls
  • Describe basics of software-defined networks and network programmability
