NetApp Updates Certification Programs
In May 2007, NetApp announced an update to their certification programs. Currently, there are three certifications available: NetApp Certified Storage Associate (NACA), NetApp Certified Storage Professional (NACP), and NetApp Certified Expert (NACE). These certification programs will no longer be offered after August 31, 2007. The three new certification programs offered are: NetApp Certified Data Management Administrator (NCDA), NetApp Certified Solution Architect (NCSA), and NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE).
The NetApp Certified Data Management Administrator (NCDA) is replacing the current NetApp Certified Expert (NACE) certification. The number of exams required for NCDA is now two instead of the four required for NACE. Existing NACE certified individuals that became certified on or after January 1st, 2006 are being grandfathered and are entitled to use the new credentials. There will be no further action required on your part.
The NetApp Certified Solution Architect (NCSA) certification has been designed for Pre-Sales SEs. There will be three specializations, or disciplines that individuals can earn while other specialization are under development. The Accredited Storage Architect Program (ASAP) is a pre-requisite for NCSA certification for internal SEs and Channel Partner SEs only.
The NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE) is designed for Post-Sales PS Engineers and there will be one specialization available with others under development to mirror the Solution Architect Certification. There is currently no pre-requisite for this certification.
