Cisco Announces Updates to CCSP Certification
On May 1, 2007, Cisco will announce updates made to the curriculum and required exams for its Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) certification.
Updates to Core Curriculum
The requirements for certification in network security are evolving along with the solutions deployed in today's networks. Two of the four required CCSP courses are being updated with new content. Revised course materials for Securing Networks with PIX and ASA will be available May 9, 2007 and the related exam will be available on June 1, 2007. Revised course materials for Implementing Cisco Intrusion Prevention System will be available June 14, 2007 and the related exam will be available on September 4, 2007.
New Elective Options
In addition, two new electives will be added as curriculum options, offering greater flexibility for those pursuing security professional certification. Once available, Implementing Network Admissions Control and Implementing Cisco Monitoring, Analysis and Response System will also satisfy the elective requirement for CCSP. One of the current electives, Cisco Secure Virtual Private Networks, will eventually be dropped from the list of elective options. Candidates wishing to take exam 642-511 CSVPN must do so on or before September 12, 2007.
