Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager reports to the President and will interact with company shareholders and stakeholders. Within this role, the Accounting Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of finance and human resources for Fast Lane’s US and Canada companies. This position will directly manage internal and external accounting resources and will be entrusted with the accurate management and reporting of the company’s finances. This position also oversees the client services team and is responsible for ensuring the team is structured to best support the company’s goals.

Work Schedule

Typical work hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm, however, this role requires flexibility in work schedule to meet project requirements and some overtime is expected.

Duties
  • Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting internal audits
  • Lead the annual financial statement audit by providing information to external auditors
  • Monitor and manage cash ensuring the company maintains a healthy cash flow.
  • Schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Comply with federal, state/provincial, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Work with current accounting firms in US and Canada to ensure taxes are reported and paid timely
  • Maintain financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintain financial staff job results by coaching and counseling employees and planning, monitoring, and appraising their job results.
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Manage the preparation and processing of payroll for personnel, including commissions.
  • Manage account reconciliations for the bank accounts and credit card accounts
  • Manage intercompany invoicing and offsets
  • Lead monthly closing to ensure efficiency and accuracy of all closing activities
  • Work with other department leaders on financial needs to ensure profitability
  • Lead Human Resources staff by overseeing all aspects of the Human Resources process
      This includes but is not limited to:
    • Hiring of staff (recruiting, screening, scheduling interviews, etc.)
    • Onboarding
    • Offboarding
    • Benefits enrollment
    • Performance Management
  • Creates and enforces Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Oversees the Client Services team
  • Works with Client Services Supervisor to ensure the team is structured to best support company goals
  • Additional duties as required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field of study, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 5 plus years of experience working in Accounting
  • CPA or equivalent preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel using pivot tables and v-lookups
  • Experience using QuickBooks
  • Highly skilled at time management with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to multi-task and quickly shift responsibilities
  • Ability to quickly learn multiple diverse platforms
  • Experience with foreign exchange rates is a plus
  • Human Resources experience is a plus
