Content Developer

Fast Lane Consulting and Education Services, Inc. is a leading Global IT Training Company with its North America headquarters located in Morrisville, North Carolina. Fast Lane offers a broad array of hands-on vendor-authorized IT training classes including Cisco Systems, NetApp, IBM, Ubuntu, and VMware, as well as vendor neutral courses developed in house.

DESCRIPTION: This is an ongoing, long-term hourly remote contract position handling multiple projects at a time according to project Statements of Work (SOWs).

The Content Developer (CD) MUST have experience with at least one large technical computing company (such as Cisco, IBM, Red Hat, NetApp, etc.) or comparable organization. Technical knowledge is essential in this role.

In addition, the CD MUST have experience with high-profile corporate training and instructional design, preferably with one of the large technical computing companies listed above or with a similar Fortune 500 company. Advanced Articulate Studio 2 experience is also mandatory. Applicants without large-scale corporate training experience and Articulate will NOT be considered for this position.

The role of the CD is to work with Instructional Designers (ISDs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other creative project team members to design and create high-quality robust technical training suitable for a variety of mediums, including instructor-led, eLearning, and hybrid presentation. High quality results are critical, but they must be achieved within tight project schedules and budgets to satisfy the needs of our customer base. The CD will also help provide quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide content development services for technical content development projects from beginning to end.
  • Coordinate with personnel resources across global multiple content-development teams to produce seamless, high-quality content.
  • Help create project deliverables that satisfy the business requirements of the project, but that tell a robust story for the client’s designated audience.
  • Work from an ISD’s design and utilize the appropriate tools to bring that course design vision to reality.
  • Meet the project expectations set with the Project Manager (PM), team members and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, and requirements documentation to project stakeholders and senior management as requested.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and help the PM and ISD devise contingency plans.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in a Business Management, Computer Science, or similar discipline required. Technical content development experience a must with preference for experience with a multi-national IT company.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years direct work experience in a content development capacity, including all aspects of process and content development and execution. Applicants without this experience will not be considered for this position.
  • Strong background in development of technology-based courses with SAM/Agile methodology experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Project) required.
  • Superior grammar and editing skills critical; excellent graphic editing skills preferred.
  • Articulate Storyline 2, Articulate Studio, Adobe Online and Camtasia experience and knowledge is required.
  • Knowledge of E-learning standards (AICC, SCORM) and LMS environments is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in team collaboration over geographically dispersed areas.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to clearly identify project needs with project team members as they arise.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment is crucial.
  • Ability to bring projects to successful completion on time and with the utmost quality standards.
  • Limited travel required - >10%.
