Data Center Infrastructure and Application Expert - Cisco and NetApp

Fast Lane Consulting and Education Services, Inc. is Cisco's Global Learning Partner of the Year for 2013. We are a leading Global IT Training Company with its North America headquarters located in Morrisville, North Carolina. Fast Lane offers a broad array of hands-on vendor-authorized IT training classes including Cisco Systems, NetApp, IBM, Ubuntu, and VMware, as well as vendor neutral courses developed in house.

DESCRIPTION - This is a contract position handling multiple projects according to project Statements of Work (SOWs).

The role of the Data Center Expert is to provide technical expertise on leading- and bleeding-edge topics relating to Cisco and NetApp technical course development efforts. The DCE is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for development efforts led by a project manager and will work closely with other SME reviewers, instructional designers, and editors to produce content for technical audiences about new products, technologies, architectures, etc., in the Cisco and NetApp families.

The DCE must be able to function well within a team, adhere to strict budget and schedule requirements, and communicate clearly with senior management and colleagues. S/he should be able to work toward specific training objectives and goals without getting derailed into personal areas of interest outside the scope of project definitions. Excellent communication and writing/explanation skills are critical, and experience with technical training, technical certifications, and content review is strongly preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expert guidance for technical content development projects from beginning to end.
  • Provide thought leadership to Fast Lane teams to help identify up-and-coming hot topics, emerging technologies, and training opportunities.
  • Participate with global project teams to successfully complete projects on time and under budget.
  • Communicate extremely clearly to provide superior technical education content to our customers
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Commit to projects from inception to completion, realizing that changes in scope, project direction, and other contingencies can and do occur.
  • Deliver to firm deadlines within a project.
  • Work with generally accepted tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Reader/Professional to generate technical documentation required for courses.
  • Build, develop, and grow any technical relationship vital to the success of the project.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in a Business Management, Computer Science, or similar discipline required. Hands-on technical experience a must with preference for experience within Cisco, NetApp, a related partner, or with a multi-national IT company.
  • Demonstrated deep technical expertise in at least several of these topic areas: Cisco Nexus switches, Cisco UCS Servers, Cisco UCS Director, NetApp FAS series controllers, NetApp E-series controllers, FlexPod architectures, VMware products, Microsoft Private Cloud/HyperV, SAP, Cloudera Hadoop.
  • Experience as a pre-sales SE preferred.
  • Background in training and development of technology-based courses with Agile methodology experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Project) required.
  • Superior grammar and editing skills essential; basic graphic editing skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of E-learning standards (AICC, SCORM) and content development tools such as Flash, Articulate, and Captivate are helpful, but not required.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to remain on point with regard to project goals and directions.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment is crucial.
  • Ability to help bring projects to successful completion on time and under budget.
  • Limited travel required - >10%.
