Prerequisites

The candidate should have a foundational knowledge of basic networking concepts. Client experience with Windows operating systems will contribute to understanding interface and configuration.

Course Objectives

In this course we teach you how to install Windows 7 using WinPE tools and Windows Deployment Services (WDS). We demonstrate how to boot from VHD with Windows 7 Enterprise. We look at features such as AppLocker, DirectAccess, Bitlocker and Branch Cache. Additionally, we explore tools such as Problem Step Recorder, Remote Support/Access and Action Center. Our monitoring section includes using Reliability Monitor, Event Viewer, Process Explorer and other tools. We’ll configure Group Policies and look at advanced Firewall and IP Security.

As we move to Windows Server 2008R2 technologies, we start with the installation of the Core and Enterprise versions. We configure Active Directory with Organization Units, Domains and Trust, Sites and Services and Group Policies. We install and configure services including DHCP, DNS, NAP, Terminal Services, Certificates, IIS, WDS, RADIUS and more… We also explore the new features of Windows 2008 R2 and the advanced Technet articles are demonstrated.
