Course Overview

This class is designed for student that are new to Cisco Collaboration Systems. For students that are already familiar with previous versions of Cisco Collaboration should take the update course, Cisco Collaboration Systems Release 10.0 Update (CSR10U). This bootcamp does not just cover version 10, but also previous versions as foundational knowledge.

Course Content

Cisco Collaboration Systems Release 10.0 (formerly known as Unified Communications solution release) is a sophisticated, yet simple communications solution designed to strengthen business relationships through improved interactions and experiences for midsize to large businesses. It is a simple to deploy, manage, and maintain solution, supporting multiple applications on one virtualized platform. It is highly available, interoperable, and scalable solution.

This 5-day bootcamp will help you gain skills and knowledge necessary for initial Cisco Collaboration Systems Release 10.0 sizing, design, integration, and configuration as well as day-to-day administration and management tasks. It focuses on the initial design, configuration, and administration of Cisco Collaboration applications. It includes hands-on labs focused on configuration, verification, administration, and day-to-day management tasks. Lab exercises are delivered using an equipment-ready environment where students can focus on their specific areas of interests.

The primary audiences for this course are support and deployment engineers, field engineers, administrators, or anyone who is new to the Cisco Collaboration solution.

Prerequisites

Prior to attending, you should have a basic understanding of servers and VMware, and know the Cisco Collaboration portfolio products available.

Module 1: Cisco Unified Computing System Servers
  • Explain Cisco UCS C-Series server and components
  • Setup, access, and maintain the Cisco UCS C-Series servers
Module 2: Cisco Unified Communications Virtualization
  • Explain VMware ESXi 5.x
  • Setup, deploy, and maintain VMware ESXi for Cisco Unified Communications applications
  • Describe and license VMware ESXi
  • Describe storage and networking in VMware
  • Describe virtual resources required for Unified Communications deployments
  • Describe Cisco OVA templates for Cisco Unified Communications applications
  • Create virtual machines for Cisco Unified Communications installations
  • Size and design Unified Communications in a virtualized deployment
Module 3: Cisco Unified Communications Manager
  • Size and design a call processing deployment on a virtualized platform
  • Setup and license Cisco Unified Communications Manager using Prime License Manager (PLM)
  • Describe gateways and their protocols
  • Setup trunk connection to SIP service provider
  • Describe dial plan components including, call routing logic, digit manipulation, and location-based CAC for voice and video calls
  • Register phones and synchronize users from LDAP server
  • Describe media resources for conferencing, transcoding, MOH, and others
  • Implement Extension Mobility, call coverage, and Mobile Connect (Single Number Reach)
Module 4: Cisco Unity Connection
  • Size and design a voice messaging deployment
  • Integrate Cisco Unity Connection with Cisco Unified Communications Manager
  • Setup Templates and Class of Service
  • Synchronize users from LDAP server and Cisco Unified Communications Manager
  • Configure dial plans, call routing, and call handlers
